Loan Repayment
Understanding Loan Repayment
How loan repayments work and are processed
Loan repayments are automatically calculated and allocated when you make payments. The system intelligently distributes your payment across contributions, interest, and principal.
Contribution Amount
Your monthly contribution is allocated first from each payment.
Interest Payment
Interest on your loan is calculated and paid next.
Principal Reduction
Any remaining amount reduces your loan principal balance.
Automatic Allocation
When you make a payment, the system automatically allocates funds in this order: (1) Monthly contribution, (2) Loan interest, (3) Principal reduction. If you have multiple loans, excess payments are distributed proportionally based on remaining balances.
Loan Terms
Understanding Loan Terms and Conditions
Important information about loan terms, interest rates, and limits
Interest Rate
The interest rate is set by your Mokhatlo administrators and applies to all loans. Interest is calculated on the remaining principal balance and is included in your monthly payments.
Loan Limits
Your Mokhatlo may set minimum and maximum loan amounts. These limits help ensure responsible lending and maintain the group's financial stability.
Repayment Terms
Loan repayment terms are specified in months. The standard term is set by your Mokhatlo, but you may be able to choose a different term when applying, subject to approval.
One Loan at a Time
Members can typically only have one active or pending loan at a time. You must complete or pay off your current loan before applying for a new one.

Payment Allocation
How Payments Are Allocated
Understanding how your payment is distributed across different categories
When you make a payment, the system automatically allocates the funds in a specific order to ensure all obligations are met. Here's how it works:
Monthly Contribution
First, your monthly contribution amount is allocated. This is your regular savings contribution that goes into your total contributions balance.
Loan Interest
If you have an active loan, the interest portion is allocated next. This covers the interest due on your loan for the payment period.
Principal Reduction
Any remaining amount after covering contributions and interest goes toward reducing your loan principal balance. This helps you pay off your loan faster.
Excess Forwarding
If you pay more than required and have no loans, excess amounts are automatically forwarded to cover future months' contributions. If you have loans, excess goes to loan reduction.
Payment Preview
Before submitting your payment, you'll see a preview showing exactly how your payment will be allocated. This helps you understand where your money is going and plan your payments accordingly.
Contribution Tracking
Tracking Your Contributions
How to view and monitor your contribution history
All your contributions are automatically tracked and recorded. You can view your contribution history and totals from multiple places in the system.

Monthly Contributions
Understanding Monthly Contributions
How monthly contributions work in your Mokhatlo
Monthly contributions are the regular savings amounts that all members are expected to pay each month. These contributions form the foundation of your Mokhatlo's savings pool.
Contribution Amount
The monthly contribution amount is set by your Mokhatlo administrators. This amount is the same for all members and is typically fixed for the duration of the savings cycle.
Payment Due Date
Contributions are typically due at the beginning or end of each month. Check with your Mokhatlo administrators for the specific due date.
Late Payments
If you miss a monthly contribution, you can still make it up in subsequent months. The system tracks which months you've paid and which are still outstanding. Late payments may affect your loan eligibility depending on your Mokhatlo's rules.
